Line of drying systems includes Jetzone fluidized bed dryers/puffers/toasters, fluidized bed coolers, impingement coolers, forced convention coolers and belt coolers. Jet-tubes project an undispersed column of air into the product bed, resulting in optimum fluidization and high heat transfer. High-velocity air passing through long tubes creates a bed of air that suspends and tumbles the product as the air reflects from a solid, non-perforated conveyor. During fluidization, each particle is surrounded and separated from adjacent particles by the treatment air. Jet-tubes create a large chamber between the product and air-return plenum to settle out fines from the recirculated airstream, preventing product loss. Open space between the tubes forms a chamber to settle out smaller pieces and return process air for recirculation without affecting the fluidizing air jets. The chamber reduces returning air velocity, preventing interference with the main fluidizing airstream. The process is not sensitive to conveyor loading because the treatment air is evenly dispersed before contacting the product.
