Walk-in Ovens Heat Materials for Chemical Processing
A chemical industry company will use two walk-in ovens to heat materials in 55-gal drums. The heat evaporates water inside the drums to recover the material’s solid contents.
The ovens, designed and manufactured by Lewco Inc., Sandusky, Ohio, are heated by direct-fired natural gas and have a maximum temperature of 650°F (343°C). They are equipped with a programmable logic controller (PLC) interfaced with a touchscreen human machine interface (HMI).
The ovens include a rear-mounted heater box and employ two 22,000-cfm circulation fans and a 1,250-cfm exhaust fan. The circulation fan and integral plenums deliver uniform dual airflow throughout the workspace, allowing the drums to be evenly heated, says the company.
