Conval, a manufacturer of high performance, forged severe-service valves, moved into a new 72,000 ft2 advanced manufacturing center at 96 Phoenix Avenue in Enfield, Connecticut. In development for two years, the facility is adjacent to I-91 and near Bradley International Airport. With all operations under one roof and 40 percent more capacity than the former three-building Somers campus, the new facility will allow for new processes to be added, future expansion of the product line and company growth.

Valmet and Asia Symbol (Shandong) Pulp and Paper Co. Ltd. have signed an agreement for the company's board machines and pulp mill in China. Valmet will provide maintenance services and maintenance development for the board machines and the pulp mill, including chip handling, fiber lines, pulp dryers, recovery boilers, evaporation, and recausticizing. In addition, Valmet will service a power plant, chemical plant and water treatment facility. Valmet will be responsible for the leadership, management and development of the mill’s maintenance.


CenterLine Ltd., Windsor, Canada, a provider of fastener and resistance spot-welding technology, hired David Mueller as vice president and general counsel.  He will serve as a member of the executive committee and lead all legal and risk-management matters, steer various global growth initiatives and help drive strategic planning for the company.

Atlanta-based ASHRAE installed its 2018-2019 president, executive committee officers and directors during its annual conference in June in Houston. ASHRAE’s 2018-2019 president is Shelia J. Hayter, P.E., Fellow ASHRAE. While serving as the society’s president, Hayter will continue her role as a group manager with the Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colo. She also will serve as chair of ASHRAE’s board of directors and executive committee.
