After using a two-dimensional computer-aided design (CAD) platform for several years, JPW Ovens and Furnaces wanted to take advantage of new technology to improve its design process. As a result, the manufacturer added systems from Autodesk Inventor, a supplier of three-dimensional tools. The software provides an almost complete illustration of what a product will look like before it is built, say the companies. In addition to design, it offers simulation, visualization, rendering and documentation tools.

JPW used the CAD platform to complete an oven design in one week. According to the company, the same design would have taken two to three weeks to complete with its old software. The company anticipates the Autodesk solution will help it get custom-manufactured products to clients faster.
