A heavy-duty walk-in oven passed the temperature uniformity requirements to meet BAC 5621 Class 1 Furnaces and Instrumentation Type D specifications. Wisconsin Oven Corp. shipped the curing oven to a composite manufacturer.
The two-zone indirect-gas-fired unit has a maximum operating temperature of 450°F (232°C) and can heat 2,000 lb of material from 70 to 350°F (21 to 177°C) at an average rate of 10°F (5.5°C) per minute. It utilizes a horizontal airflow configuration to maximize heating rates and uniformity. Three guaranteed temperature uniformity tests were performed to ±5°F (±2.7°C), each at setpoints of 150, 250, 350 and 400°F (66, 121, 177 and 204°C) to meet specifications. All tests were conducted in an empty oven chamber under static operating conditions.
