A biomass pretreatment system will be delivered to Praj Industries’ second-generation bio-refinery project in India. Valmet will manufacture and supply the system.

A conceptual system developed from Valmet’s experience in pulping and fiberboard has been applied to meet new biomass processing requirements. With this technology, which suits the initial hydrolysis step of bioethanol production, waste material such as rice straw can be utilized to produce biofuels. Valmet will deliver machinery, engineering and site services in 2020.

Praj is progressing on the execution of the first batch of four second-generation integrated bio-refinery projects in India.
