NyCast AB won the Kanthal Award 2019 for an electrical heater that has the potential to contribute to an industrial future without greenhouse gas emissions.

The Swedish manufacturer’s NyCast’s electrical heater can heat gases up to 2012°F (1100°C) with gas pressures above 10 bar in less than 100 milliseconds, says the manufacturer. One area in which this heater could be used is to preheat hydrogen for reduction of iron ore.

Administered by the Sandvik Group, the Kanthal Award recognizes innovations related to new solutions in sustainability, quality of life and energy efficiency.
