Offered for rent on a temporary basis, selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems utilize a 32.5 percent liquid urea solution, commonly known as diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), as the reagent. The urea skids and associated ductwork required for the rental systems provide an alternative for facilities seeking temporary SCR systems but averse to anhydrous ammonia-handling requirements. In one recent installation, the temporary urea-based SCR systems achieved less than 5ppm vd at 3 percent O2 NOX outlet levels.
