Registration for the “Fundamentals of Industrial Process Heating” online learning course is open for the fall session. Scheduled to begin October 5, the six-week class presented by the Industrial Heating Equipment Association (IHEA) will run through November 15. The course includes forums to interact with other students and access to the instructor via scheduled office hours.
The curriculum includes the basics of heat transfer, fuels and combustion, energy use, furnace design, refractories, automatic control and atmospheres as applied to industrial process heating. Weekly coursework, quizzes and a final project are administered.
The course, which is taught by industry expert Jack Marino, allows students to learn while at home or work. Throughout the self-paced online course, students learn about the safe, efficient operation of industrial heating equipment as well as how to reduce energy consumption.
