Conveyor Oven Cures Resin for Industrial Filters
An industrial filter manufacturer purchased a fuel-fired conveyor oven rated for a maximum operating temperature of 500°F (260°C). The oven, which was manufactured and supplied by Lewco Inc., is used to cure resin applied to the filters. The finished product is used for a variety of applications.
The oven includes a single, direct-fired, natural gas heater box with a capacity of 500,000 BTU/hr. Integral plenums and a 5,000 CFM circulation fan deliver uniform vertical-down airflow throughout the workspace. Adjustable end panels can be lowered on the entrance and exit openings to minimize the air leakage into the rest of the plant. The oven is also supplied with a stainless steel belt to help prevent oxidation touching parts.
A PLC interfaced with a remotely mounted touchscreen HMI allows the customer to easily control all oven and conveyor operations from one convenient interface, and a variable-speed drive allows the conveyor speed to be adjusted from 0.25-0.75 feet per minute.
