Alfa Laval will open an application and innovation center in Kolding, Denmark. According to the provider of heat transfer and fluid-handling solutions, the 17,222 ft2 (1,600 m2) facility will focus on its capabilities within hygienic fluid handling.

Developing the center is part of a larger focus by Alfa Laval to accelerate product innovation for pumps, valves and cleaning and mixing equipment used in the food and pharmaceutical industries. According to the company, which now has four test centers in Denmark, the facility includes multiple testbeds with advanced hardware and software. Among other activities at the center, Alfa Laval will conduct proof-of-concept experiments on new equipment at many duty points under close-to-actual conditions.
