A Midwest wood window manufacturing facility will utilize a regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO) for the abatement of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted during the window painting and coating process.
The 26,000-scfm oxidizer, which was supplied by Catalytic Products International, Lake Zurich, Ill., was installed to replace two existing CPI catalytic oxidizers that had reached the end of their life cycles. The facility was able to recognize a significant reduction in natural gas usage by installing the RTO, leading to operating cost savings and greenhouse gas emissions reductions. The RTO destroys the incoming VOCs with continuous 98 percent destruction rate efficiency (DRE) and 97 percent thermal heat recovery.
