Superior Analytics Instruments installed a full-bore magnetic flow meter at a sand mine’s polymer feed line for dewatering sludge in west Texas. The flow meter from GF Piping Systems is used to quantify the effectiveness of various polymers per ton of solids.

During setup, irregular flows were observed on the 2580 FlowtraMag flow meter. According to GF, the Bluetooth connectivity of its configuration tool app allowed them to access data from the flow meter remotely. With the installation of a GF backpressure valve, the irregular flows were eliminated, and more precise dosing was achieved.  The backpressure adjustment was optimized using real-time data observed on the app.

By using the app, SAI was able to remotely instruct a group of field service technicians to successfully install, commission and verify calibration of the flow meters.
