In an effort to increase biofuel production by up to 1.3 million tons per year by 2023, Neste will upgrade the automation systems and software at its refinery in Tuas, Singapore. Digital technologies provider Emerson will handle the upgrade.
In addition to its existing 1.3 million tons annual production capacity of renewable diesel, the expanded Neste refinery will have the capacity to produce up to 1 million additional tons of aviation fuel and renewable raw materials for polymers and chemicals.
Emerson will help Neste complete automation system implementation to bring its expanded refinery on line by 2023. Neste will apply Emerson’s DeltaV automation system and software to control production for efficient performance and to deliver on-demand remote access to data and analytics. Cloud engineering capabilities enable the companies’ global engineering teams to collaborate remotely to optimize project designs and accelerate project schedules.
According to Neste, it is the world’s largest producer for renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel produced from renewable waste and residue raw materials.
