In pulp and paper manufacturing, the temperature of the steam must be accurately controlled as it enters the dryer roll. Desuperheaters serve to reduce heat or desuperheat the steam used in the drying process. They also aid other heat transfer equipment. While traditional desuperheaters need downstream runs as long as 30 pipe diameters, the company’s desuperheater can be installed with runs as low as 10 pipe diameters before the next part of the process, says the manufacturer.
