ASI, Division of Thermal Technologies Inc., supplied a single-zone drying system to an energy storage startup and producer that has developed a commercially viable nonlithium energy storage technology.

The single-zone roll-support drying system incorporates convection and infrared heating. Both heat sources are electrically powered. In conjunction with PLC-based heat and air-velocity control loops, variable-frequency drives on the supply and exhaust fans allow for precise air temperature and airflow control. An automated external retraction system eases web-up, cleaning and access to the dryer’s interior, according to ASI. A lower flammability limit (LFL) analyzer continuously monitors solvent levels and ensures that the levels remain at safe operating levels.
