Mike Humann is currently the Director of Products and Applications for The New York Blower Company in Illinois. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration in Physics from Elmhurst College, he started his 10 plus year career working with industrial fans. Mike has expertise in fan troubleshooting, custom fans, fan mechanical design, and fan applications.
Mike is a member of the AMCA Industrial Manufacturers Marketing Group, and he has presented at several conferences and training sessions, on topics including fan applications, custom fan modifications, and fan system effects.
Minimizing & Troubleshooting Fan System Effect
System effect — the result of less-than-ideal conditions at the inlet or outlet of a fan — adversely affects fan performance. Among the negative impacts of system effect are reduced service life, increased noise and vibration, and wasted energy and budget. In this presentation, industry professionals will learn the causes of system effect and how to recognize and minimize these effects by ensuring air enters or leaves a fan uniformly.
