Two primary uses for steam in the power and process industries are performing mechanical work and as a heat transfer medium. Superheated steam is preferred for mechanical work because it does not contain entrained water droplets, which can damage rotating equipment.

Line of flat and round heat pipes includes round heat pipes in lengths of ~2.76 to 23.6" (70 to 600 mm) and diameters of ~0.15 to 0.4" (4 to 10 mm). Flat heat pipes are available in lengths of ~2.76 to 19.7" (70 to 500 mm), widths of 0.19 to 0.45" (4.83 to 11.41 mm), and heights of ~0.08 to 0.26" (2 to 6.5 mm). 

Victaulic, a manufacturer of mechanical pipe joining solutions, plans to build an additional state-of-the-art manufacturing center in Lehigh Valley, Pa. The 400,000 ft² facility is expected to break ground later this year and be fully operational in 2019.
