Using 3D printing, fans from its air-cooled vehicle seats and in-house engineering capabilities, Ford Motor Co. is getting into the medical supply business — albeit temporarily — to support efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19.
The Columbus Flat Roll Division of Steel Dynamics Inc. will invest $140 million to add a continuous hot-dip galvanizing line at its plant in Columbus, Miss. The line, designed and manufactured by Fives, will be capable of producing 400,000 tons per year of unexposed automotive steel grades and specialized steel grades.
Four electrically heated walk-in ovens will be used by an automotive parts manufacturer to age aluminum parts. The enhanced-duty industrial ovens, manufactured by Wisconsin Oven Corp., East Troy, Wis., have a maximum operating temperature of 500°F (260°C). Guaranteed temperature uniformity of ±10°F at 392°F was documented with a standard nine-point profile test in an empty chamber under static operating conditions, says the oven maker.
International automotive manufacturer Groupe PSA has chosen the Dürr Group as a primary supplier in its global network. The core supplier status was announced during a management meeting between the two companies at Dürr’s headquarters in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany.
