An ever-increasing need for steam at specific temperatures and pressures exists in many modern plants. Fortunately, significant improvements have been made to increase operational thermal efficiency and heat rates by the precise, coordinated control of the temperature, pressure and quality of this steam. 

Condensers are used in power plants to recycle exhaust steam for thermoelectric heating, but they also are relied on to maximize turbine efficiency by maintaining a proper vacuum.

French company Alstom has been awarded two contracts worth approximately $259.1 million in total for the supply and the maintenance of the power island of the 950 MW Kirikkale combined-cycle power plant located in the central Anatolia region in Turkey.
