A forging company will use a natural-gas-fired belt conveyor oven to preheat aluminum billets. Manufactured by Wisconsin Oven Corp., the unit has sufficient capability to heat 3,000 lb per hour of aluminum from 70 to 950°F as long as the workload is configured in a manner that is capable of absorbing the heat that is generated within the time available.
Advanced Airfoil Components (AAC), a joint venture of Siemens and Chromalloy Gas Turbine Corp., opened in Hillsborough County, Fla. A textile manufacturer ordered eight walk-in ovens that will be used to preheat spinnerets so polymers will not stick as they are extruded through the tool. The heavy metal spinnerets weigh about 40 lb and are heated to 600°F before use. Drawers were added to the ovens to allow tools to be easily removed when needed and placed back in the oven when they cool.
Two automatic drawer ovens have been designed to process drill pipes and drill cores for oilfield equipment. The equipment allows 30’ long parts to be loaded on the drawers via overhead crane for preheating.
