In our October 2021 edition of Process Heating: How to make boiler maintenance easier to maintain and keep boilers efficient, proper installation of tubeskin thermocouples, our equipment overview on heat exchangers and much more!
Industrial boilers do a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to keeping production processes or even facilities operating as effectively as possible. Yet, maintenance personnel may forget how important regular service and cleaning are to boiler performance.
Some methods of boiler layup can be less than satisfactory. At one end of the spectrum is the option to do nothing and risk whatever rusty consequences may eventually follow. At the other end of the spectrum are measures such as the use of a desiccant or applying a nitrogen blanket. This article will look more closely at using vapor corrosion inhibitors for boiler layup.
Perhaps no industry must adapt as quickly to the changing tastes of consumers as the food and beverage business. Product strategies must be designed to meet not just predictable seasons but also changing consumer trends. Due to these increased demands, plant operators often turn to rental heat exchangers as they adapt and maintain their production lines.
In this issue of Process Heating, we have two articles to help you optimize boiler maintenance and — in the event of idled equipment — boiler layup, as well as advice about temperature sensors for fired heaters and heat exchangers for food-grade applications.
ASI, Division of Thermal Technologies Inc., designed and manufactured a drying system for a Midwest-based manufacturer of silicone release liners. The customer’s current equipment was unable to meet their operational demands of wider web widths, larger roll diameters and a greater range of substrates.
Superior Boiler opened its third manufacturing facility in Hutchinson, Kan. The 75,000 ft2 building, dubbed “Plant 3,” was renovated to house Superior’s watertube division, which the company relocated from Richmond, Va. Plant 3 is located on 18 acres, allowing for further expansion as needed.
JPW Industrial Ovens & Furnaces has been designing and manufacturing industrial ovens for startup companies in the electric vehicle (EV) industry for several years. However, requests have been more frequent and more specific as of late. President Mike Jameson believes he knows the reason.
Valin Corp., a privately held, employee-owned San Jose, Calif.-based company, acquired Sun Automation Inc. of Chandler, Ariz. According to Valin, the acquisition strengthens its automation product portfolio and offers expansion in new territories where it is not currently represented.
An Internet of Things (IoT) solution for boiler rooms that offers real-time data analytics and system intelligence is available as an app on Apple and Android devices. The app, Prometha Connected Boiler Solutions, enables authorized users to remotely view boiler-system performance around the clock. When a condition is suboptimal, users are notified in real-time via an alarm or alert.
