The board of directors of the Association of Industrial Metallizers, Coaters and Laminators (AIMCAL), Fort Mill, S.C., and the board of trustees of Converting Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA), Springfield, N.J., voted to merge the two organizations under AIMCAL.
If approved by memberships of both groups, the merger will create an AIMCAL organization of more than 200 member companies, with a CEMA Division focused on the interests of the converting equipment manufacturers. The organization will be headquartered at AIMCAL's Fort Mill location.
AIMCAL was formed in 1970 when the Vacuum Metallizers Association decided to broaden its membership to include coaters, laminators and suppliers.
CEMA's current officers and trustees will lead the CEMA Division and will assume responsibility for planning activities and preparing a budget to support its work.
