A maker of industrial foam and multi-component polyurea spray systems needed reliable heat control to maintain product consistency.

The problem involved a preheat stage and product-transfer hoses using multiple controllers on a single unit. Field failures from vibration and excessive temperature overshoot as well as customer tampering with the equipment led to poor product quality.

The solution was found by Mike Kelley at Ogden Manufacturing Co., Arlington Heights, Ill., by using the ETR-3000. The customer tried demo units, which solved the quality issues and eased installations. After four months of applied use in production, the customer is getting ready to purchase 3,000 more controllers.
