Those trying to obtain both ASME stamp-holder status and PED certification can do so through a single certification process.

Manufacturers trying to obtain both ASME stamp-holder status and PED certification can now go through a single certification process thanks to an agreement between the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT), Columbus, OH, and Rheinisch-Westfalischer Technischer Uberwachungsverein (RWTUV), Essen, Germany.

The two organizations have agreed to offer nondestructive testing personnel certifications for both the new European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) boiler and pressure vessel code. Presently, manufacturers trying to obtain both certifications must go through two separate nondestructive testing personnel qualification and certification programs. This arrangement allows a single qualification and examination process.
