Wichita Falls, Texas-based Tranter, a well-known supplier of plate heat exchangers, has been acquired by Alfa Laval, Lund, Sweden. The company had a turnover in 2005 of about SEK 900 million (US $116 million) and has approximately 470 employees globally in research and development, manufacturing and sales. Alfa Laval paid approximately SEK 1.2 billion (US $155 million) in cash.
Lars Renström, president and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group, said about the acquisition: “I'm very satisfied that we have been able to acquire Tranter. Tranter is a well-managed company that will strengthen our global presence. Additionally, we have seen a positive development in Tranter during 2005. That is why it's natural that Tranter continues to be an independent channel to the market. In practice, it means that they will offer their own product range under the Tranter brand through their own distribution network.”
