To ensure the quality and efficiency of its field service operations, Rockford, Ill.-based Eclipse Inc. has established a service certification process within its U.S. Global Services organization. The certification process requires all field service personnel to undergo a combination of classroom, laboratory, online and field training. Testing is administered to verify expertise.

Each field service technician is required to pass tests in 14 industrial safety courses facilitated and administered by J.J. Keller Inc. prior to earning a Certified Service Technician designation. In addition, each Certified Service Technician must successfully complete a two-phase technical instruction program co-developed and facilitated by Dick Bennett of Janus Technology, Rockford, Ill. The certification process also includes stringent management review of interpersonal skills and the use of technology to support the company's customer base.
