Silicone-insulated wires are designed to meet the NEMA HP 6 standard, which replaces MIL-W-16878 silicone-rubber-insulated wire slash sheets and covers requirements for silicone-rubber-insulated stranded wire that is used in the internal wiring of high-reliability electrical and electronic equipment. The standard addresses 600 and 1,000 V wire and permits continuous conductor temperatures ratings of -67 to 302°F (-55 to 150°C), tin copper, or 392°F (200°C),silver copper. FEP-insulated wires also are available to meet the NEMA HP 4 standard.
