Heat pipe coils can be used either in new or retrofit designs to capture and reuse energy that otherwise would be exhausted. In summer, the refrigerant in the heat pipe absorbs heat from the supply airstream, effectively precooling it and reducing the building load. In winter, this process is reversed and supply air is preheated. Available with capacities up to 120,000 cfm, the heat pipes are manufactured with 0.625, 0.875 or 1" tubes, and extruded or plate fin construction.
