Everyone involved with process heating systems must understand the national standards governing the design and operation of ovens, furnaces and other heat processing equipment. The Safety Standards and Codes Seminar, hosted by the Industrial Heating Equipment Association, is presented by the very experts that helped revise the NFPA 86 standard - codes that will help ensure the safety of your manufacturing operations.

Scheduled for October 18-19, at the Hilton Garden Inn O'Hare in Chicago, the seminar will explain the most recent updates to the NFPA 86 standard and include an introduction to NFPA 87, recommended practices for fluid heaters.

The course curriculum includes discussion of the updated requirements for:
  • Class A, B and C furnaces.
  • PLC-based burner management systems.
  • Pulse-fired systems.
  • Multiple burner systems.
  • Safety shutoff valves.
  • Purge and restart requirements.
  • Calculation methods for the lower flammability limit (LFL).
Additional topics will include:
  • Loss prevention.
  • Product liability.
  • Enforcement.
  • Insurers' perspectives.
