A portable water-heating rig, Firestream can be used to heat feedwater for fracking. The rig typically increases the water temperature 100°F at a flow rate of 630 gal/min (15 barrels/min). The rig has a helical coil heater that incorporates numerous safety features to avoid mishaps common in fracturing. The heater has an output of 31.5 million BTU/hr. Its high thermal efficiency is boosted by a heat exchanger that recovers waste heat from the heater exhaust stack. The heater operates on natural gas, propane, diesel fuel or a combination, depending on the model. The rig remains fully assembled for travel and does not require reassembly from one site to another. It includes a gen-set that provides electrical power for the heater and related equipment.
