Pass Ltd., an independent test equipment expert based in the United Kingdom, warns that many gas fitters and boiler engineers in the UK may be unaware of new mandatory regulations which will come into effect from April 2014 to measure and record the carbon monoxide (CO) level in the flue gas when a condensing boiler is commissioned. Pittsburgh-based Heyl & Patterson Inc. hired Len Walnoha as director of engineering to oversee equipment engineering, design and drafting of all manufactured equipment and the technical development of new products. He also will direct field service personnel in the support, installation, inspection and commissioning of equipment.
     Also, the company appointed Alfred Midgley IV to vice president. Midgley will be responsible for leading the Bulk Transfer Division and the ongoing implementation of its bulk material-handling products for clients.

Comdel Inc., Gloucester, Mass., a manufacturer of RF and DC power supplies, expanded its Beijing sales and services facility to support the continued company growth. The new facility grew to 400 m². Managed by James Li, the Beijing warehouse and office allows the company to house greater inventory levels and offer increased support for the onsite training and custom RF solutions Comdel already offers OEM customers in China.

Cincinnati-based CECO Environmental Corp. received several orders recently that totaled $13 million. The new orders spanned a number of sectors, including alternative fuels, oil refineries, automotive, energy, municipalities and metals. They will be shipped to customers in the United States, Mexico and the Middle East.

In January, Emerson closed the transaction to acquire SPX Corp.’s 44.5 percent minority interest in EGS Electrical Group, giving it 100 percent ownership of the business. Emerson and SPX have jointly held the business since 1997. Results for the business, which had annual revenues in 2013 of more than $500 million, have been consolidated in Emerson's Industrial Automation segment, Rosemont, Ill., and the business unit was renamed Appleton Group to reflect its most recognized brand.

Viega, Wichita, Kan., received a “Supplier of the Year, Marketing Excellence” award in the 2013 Spirit of Independence Awards from Affiliated Distributors (AD). Viega manufactures press technology systems for industrial piping.
