Stellar Materials Inc., Boca Raton, Fla., has acquired Stellar Canada Inc. and Refractory Resources Ltd., both of which are headquartered in Burlington, Ontario, and Cardinal Refractories Inc., headquartered in Fremont, Ohio.

The three companies were previously owned and operated by a group of individuals who have played an important role in the refractory industry in Canada for more than 30 years. The acquisition of these three companies is partially a vertical integration, says the company, because Stellar Canada Inc. has been a long-standing and strategic partner to and reseller for Stellar Materials. The restructuring will provide opportunities for growth in existing and new markets, according to the company. The companies will operate as Stellar Canada, Refractory Resources and Cardinal Refractories Inc. for the time being, says the company.
