A manufacturer of auxiliary equipment for the plastics industry, ACS Group, New Berlin, Wis., hired Paul Grekowicz as vice president of marketing and product development. Grekowicz will focus on enhancing new product development processes and revitalizing marketing efforts to drive increased demand for the company’s AEC, Cumberland and Sterling brands. 


In other company news, ACS Group hired Bob Andress as vice president of operations. Andress will oversee several operational areas of the company, including engineering, quality, materials and manufacturing at the company’s plants in Wisconsin and Suzhou, China.

The ACR 3 composite curing hot bonder manufactured by Columbus-based BriskHeat Corp. has been approved by CE and recognized by UL. It is reportedly the only hot bonder to have accomplished both credentials. The CE approval indicates the heater has been tested and meets European health, safety and environmental protection requirements while the UL recognition indicates compliance with both Canadian and U.S. safety requirements.

Mark Gentry has joined Goyer Management, Taylor Mills, Ky., and will work with the organizations it serves, including the Chemical Coaters Association International, Fabtech and the Industrial Heating Equipment Association. Gentry spent 10 years with Advanced Energy as an account engineer/business development with responsibilities working with industrial customers, managing projects for industrial customers, leading and coordinating demonstration projects and growing business by building relationships while promoting services and products for the industrial markets. 

Lord Corp., Cary, N.C., acquired the assets of Stellar Technology, Amherst, N.Y., a manufacturer of pressure, load, force, torque, displacement and temperature products.

Morgan Deutschland Holding GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morgan Advanced Materials plc, inked an agreement to acquire insulation manufacturer Porextherm Dämmstoffe GmbH, adding to its portfolio of thermal insulation products and solutions. Porextherm’s manufacturing facility in Kempten, Germany, produces high temperature insulation and vacuum insulation panel products.

Minneapolis-based Graco Inc. has acquired the stock of Alco Valves Group, a United Kingdom-based manufacturer of high pressure valves used in oil-and-gas and other industrial processes. Established in 1977, Alco offers a portfolio of brands including Alco Hi-Tek, Alco Valves, Alco Sub-Tek and Alco Process.

 Federal, state and local officials joined company representatives of Asahi Kasei Plastics North America Inc. and their guests to break ground on the company’s newest manufacturing site for advanced thermoplastic compounds. The facility in Athens, Ala., facility will serve as a production and distribution hub for the company in the southern United States, providing service to a number of their key segments in the region: automotive, commercial seating, electrical and electronics, and pool and spa. The newest compounding site is expected to be fully operational in the first quarter of 2016.
