A large-scale solar-powered desalination plant under construction in Saudi Arabia will utilize technology that recycles unused pressure energy to improve productivity of the industrial pumping system. The order is expected to ship during the first quarter of 2016.
Energy Recovery Inc., San Leandro, Calif., received the $1.4 million order to supply its PX-Q300 pressure-exchanging devices as part of a project that will supply 60,000 m3 of fresh water per day. Energy Recovery estimates the pressure-exchanging devices will reduce plant power consumption by 8.4 MW, saving approximately 73 GWh of energy per year. The plant is expected to be online by the first quarter of 2017.
