A grooved piping system for saturated steam and condensate piping was recognized at the 2016 AHR Expo Innovation Awards as the top product in heating.

Designed for use on industrial steam applications, Victaulic’s system includes Style 870 rigid coupling, a line of fittings, and pipe-preparation tool roll sets to process the OGS-200 groove profile. The piping system eliminates the need to weld steam piping with pressures up to 150 psi (1,034 kPa) and temperatures up to 366°F (186°C). The steam couplings and fittings can ease maintenance, compress the construction schedule and reduce downtime. High performance gaskets at the heart of the system perform in high temperature applications. At 366°F, the polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) composite seal within the Style 870 rigid coupling has the highest temperature rating of any grooved coupling gasket on the market, says Vitcaulic.

Joining steam piping with grooved couplings enables installation up to five times faster than other joining methods such as welding, threading and flanging, says the manufacturer.
