The Industrial Controls Co. Inc. (ICC), Sussex, Wis., provided a manufacturer of electrical equipment with the technical resources required to build process control systems suitable for hazardous locations. As a result, the company was able to meet CE and ATEX certifications and introduce its organic compound analyzers throughout the European Union.

Organic compound analyzers are designed to measure organic compound in a range of industrial water samples. They can be used in wastewater treatment, pulp and paper, food and beverage, chemical production and pharmaceuticals.

The instrument must be housed in an enclosure that is suitable for operation in an environment with potentially explosive gases. ICC’s engineering team helped the manufacturer design the housing to meet CE directives. ATEX, meanwhile, requires physical testing of the product. The ICC team helped the manufacturer develop the physical enclosure, and the programming to run it, to meet ATEX.
