Montreal-based United Process Controls (UPC), a provider of process controls, flow controls and automation solutions, acquired Milwaukee-based Atmosphere Engineering Co., a family-owned and operated business led by brothers Jason and Eric Jossart. AEC designs and manufactures industrial flow control products, furnace-control products and data-acquisition software.


A manufacturer of flexible process heating solutions, BriskHeat, Columbus, Ohio, was named to Inc. magazine’s 36th annual Inc. 5000, a ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The 2017 Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2013 to 2016. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2013. They also had to have been U.S.-based, privately held, for profit, and independent (not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies) as of December 31, 2016.


The business and assets of Comdel Inc., Gloucester, Mass., were acquired by XP Power LLC, Sunnyvale, Calif., the U.S. subsidiary of XP Power Ltd., on October 2. Total consideration of $23.0 million (£17.0 million) was paid in cash on completion of the transaction. Comdel supplies RF power supplies to the semiconductor, thin film, photovoltaics and induction heating industries. While there is no direct overlap Comdel and XP Power product lines, the power supply solutions of the two companies are complementary. As the new RF Power Division within XP Power, the business will operate as XP-Comdel.


The provider of high pressure processing (HPP) and cold storage services formerly known as Universal Pasteurization and Universal Cold Storage changed its name to Universal Pure. Based in Villa Rica, Ga., the new company name reflects its long-term commitment to advancing the safety and quality of foods and beverages, say company executives. The company will continue to provide HPP processing, cold storage and pre-HPP and post-HPP value-added services that help companies safely bring longer-lasting, cleaner-label products to market. At the same time, Universal Pure launched a new website at www.universalpure.com.
