Valmet acquired Enertechnix, a provider of combustion diagnostics and monitoring technology based in Olympia, Wash. The company develops technologies for boiler imaging and temperature measuring.
Valmet says the acquisition complements its automation offerings for the pulp-and-paper and energy industries. The Finland-based company expects the acquisition to allow it to offer more comprehensive solutions to improve the efficiency, availability and safety of recovery and power boilers.
Enertechnix has developed high resolution infrared camera systems with diagnostics software to provide online visibility and temperature analysis. They are able to see through obscuring dust and gas to depths of 78.5’ (24 m), allowing monitoring of developments throughout the combustion chamber.
