A 350°F (177°C) modified shelf oven is being used for preheating bulk friction material in trays. The unit, manufactured and delivered by Grieve Corp., Round Lake, Ill., includes all safety equipment required by NFPA 86 for gas-heated equipment. A 1,000 cfm, 1-hp recirculating blower provides horizontal airflow to the workload, and 350,000 BTU/hr is installed in a modulating natural gas burner.

Controls on the oven include electronic flame safeguard protection, exhauster airflow safety switch, recirculating blower airflow safety switch and purge timer. Two shelf trucks and two tiers of wheel tray supports aid in loading trays from the oven to trucks.
