A spring manufacturer received a shipment of two industrial conveyor ovens that will be used to stress-relieve torsion springs.
The custom ovens, designed and shipped by Lewco Inc., are rated for a maximum temperature of 650°F (343°C). Both include a single direct-fired natural gas heater box with a capacity of 1 million BTU/hr. A 2,000-cfm circulation fan delivers vertical-down airflow in the workspace.
Due to the automation of the company’s process and integration with its existing equipment, the ovens are equipped with a programmable logic controller (PLC) that incorporates safety, motion, discrete and drive capabilities into a single unit. The PLC, VFD and temperature controller all communicate over Ethernet IP, allowing remote monitoring and process changes from a master control room through the company’s HMI.
This is the spring manufacturer’s seventh and eighth conveyor ovens from Sandusky, Ohio-based Lewco.
